Position Purpose

This position is responsible for tracking and maintaining litigation records, communication with consultants, lawyers and other stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Coordinate with external tax consultants and legal consultants in tax litigation matters.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of cases, including maintaining the case files electronically as well as in soft and hard form.
  • Assist in data collection, preparation, and filing of income tax returns for the assigned group entities and directors.
  • Assist Team Leads in tax proceedings and tax litigations.
  • Comply with statutory notices issued in connection with the assessment proceedings.
  • Scrutinize details before filing with the tax authorities.
  • Assist team leads and external consultants in the preparation and filing of appeal documents, written submissions, and attendance before the appellate authorities.
  • Prepare and file appeals, written submissions, and attend to argue/defend appeals before the Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) as and when required.
  • Prepare and file appeals, written submissions, and attend to argue/defend appeals before the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue as and when required.
  • Prepare applications, file, follow up, and obtain exemption certificates from Tax Authorities under the relevant section of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
  • Prepare and file refund applications for refunds due to group companies and follow up with the Tax Authorities until realization.
  • Provide information regarding changes in income tax laws relevant to group companies.

Experience and Qualification 

  • BBA / MBA Finance, CA Inter. 
  • 01 to 03 years of relevant experience. 

Specific Requirement 

  • Proven work experience in tax proceedings & litigation in a practicing firm or medium to large-sized corporate entity.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and their applications.
  • Proficiency in IRIS FBR Portal.
  • Strong command and expertise in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as SAP.
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills.
