About the Role

We're looking for a highly skilled AWS Serverless Engineer with full-stack capabilities to join our growing team. You'll help build a cloud-native, serverless backend that powers our cross-platform applications (web + mobile). This role requires a deep understanding of AWS CDK, AppSync, Lambda, Step Functions, and modern deployment practices. Experience with React Native (Expo) is a strong plus, as our mobile front end is built with Expo EAS.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deploy AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK with multi-stack architecture.
  • Build and maintain backend components using Lambda, AppSync, API Gateway, Step Functions, ECS (Fargate).
  • Integrate OAuth flows and manage Cognito User Pools.
  • Design GraphQL APIs and collaborate with React/React Native teams for schema evolution.
  • Automate builds, bundling, and deployment pipelines for backend and containerized tasks.
  • Write unit/integration tests against dockerized local environments.
  • Use Zod for runtime validation and schema inference.
  • Work with SSM Parameter Store and Lambda layers for secure configuration management.
  • Support container workloads using ECS tasks for heavy processing jobs.
  • Build integrations with Meta (Facebook) APIs for business page and marketing features.
  • Work with POS systems (Square, Clover, etc.), handling secure API calls and event flows.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS (especially CDK, Lambda, AppSync, Step Functions, API Gateway).
  • Experience with multi-stack infrastructure patterns and CI/CD for serverless deployments.
  • Experience working with Zod or similar validation libraries.
  • Knowledge of OAuth2 workflows and callback management.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas, IP whitelisting, and secure VPC integration.
  • Exposure to containerization with Docker and running tasks in ECS Fargate.
  • Practical understanding of React Native + Expo EAS build workflows (iOS/Android deployments).
  • Strong Git/GitHub workflow knowledge and collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with integrating and securing third-party APIs like POS systems and Meta (Facebook) APIs.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Turborepo and monorepo package structures.
  • Knowledge of Lambda Layers, SSM Lambda Extensions, or CDK advanced patterns.
  • Hands-on with performance optimization and cold start minimization in Lambda.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., Developer Associate, Solutions Architect) are a plus.
