We are seeking a talented and experienced Site Reliability Engineer with a strong background in Java Software Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our applications are robust, efficient, and capable of handling our growing user base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Availability and Reliability:
    - Ensure the availability and reliability of Java-based services and applications.
    - Implement monitoring and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
    - Manage on-call rotations and incident response to handle outages and performance issues in Java environments.
  • System Monitoring and Optimization:
    - Continuously monitor the performance of Java applications.
    - Identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimize resource usage, and enhance scalability.
    - Conduct capacity planning and load testing using tools like JMeter.
  • Incident Management:
    - Play a key role in incident response and management, ensuring swift resolution of issues to minimize service disruptions.
    - Lead post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Performance Analysis:
    - Analyze system performance and reliability trends using tools such as VisualVM.
    - Make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaboration:
    - Work closely with software development teams to provide input into the design and architecture of Java applications, emphasizing reliability, scalability, and observability.
    - Foster a culture of shared responsibility for reliability and performance.
    - Refine deployment and release processes with development teams
  • Infrastructure Management:
    - Automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure.
    - Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for Java applications using Jenkins, Bitbucket, or similar tools.
  • Security and Compliance:
    - Implement security best practices for Java applications and infrastructure.
    - Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments using tools like SonarQube and OWASP ZAP.
  • Automation and Tooling:
    - Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Java and related technologies.
    - Implement and manage observability tools to gain insights into system behaviour.
    - Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to improve SRE practices.


Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering and Java Software Engineering.
  • Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Java programming and scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of system architecture, networking, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
