About the Role

You will lead architectural decisions, collaborate closely with product and design teams, and be responsible for delivering production-ready features across the stack.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop backend systems using Laravel (v8+), following PSR standards and best practices
  • Develop modular plug-ins and custom backend components using Laravel's event-driven system
  • Lead development of single-page applications using React.js or Vue.js
  • Implement real-time features such as chat, notifications, and live tournament brackets using WebSockets or Socket.IO
  • Ensure secure authentication flows, including OAuth 2.0 and social login integration
  • Optimize database queries and schema design (MySQL 8+)
  • Maintain code quality through reviews, testing (PHPUnit), and CI pipelines
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and product reviews using Scrum/Kanban workflows
  • Write and maintain clear, structured technical documentation

Required Technical Expertise

  • Expert-level knowledge of Laravel (v8+), Composer, PHP 8.1+, MVC architecture
  • Experience with PHPUnit, static analysis tools (PHPStan or Psalm), and PSR coding standards
  • MySQL 8.0+ with strong SQL skills, query optimization, and database migration handling
  • Deep understanding of Laravel's routing, service containers, facades, queues, events & listeners
  • Secure handling of XSS, CSRF, RBAC, and OAuth flows

Frontend:

  • Strong experience building SPAs using Vue.js or React.js (with SSR or Vite a plus)
  • Understanding of state management and component architecture
  • Comfortable integrating with REST or GraphQL APIs

DevOps & Tools:

  • Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions
  • Experience with AWS services (EC2 at minimum)
  • Familiarity with Slack, YouTrack (or Jira), and Notion
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and environment management

Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)

  • Experience with GraphQL (Apollo)
  • Knowledge of real-time data pipelines and horizontal scaling strategies
  • Algorithms related to tournament logic (bracket generation, seeding, scoring)
  • Experience with React Query, SWR, or other modern data-fetching libraries

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication in English (B2 level or higher)
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and independence
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate across disciplines
  • Detail-oriented with a drive for clean, maintainable code
