Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning standardized codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments to ensure accurate billing and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the organization and ensuring smooth insurance claim processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Coding: Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, procedures, and medical services based on patient records.
  • Documentation Review: Analyze medical records, physician notes, lab results, and other documentation to ensure proper coding and compliance.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and federal regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding. Identify and rectify coding discrepancies or errors.
  • Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers, billing teams, and insurance companies to resolve coding-related inquiries or denials.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with changes in medical coding standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

  • Pharm-D or a degree in Medical Sciences (preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); an associate degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCA) from AAPC or AHIMA (required).

Experience:

  • Minimum [1-3] years of experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

Job Levels Available:

We offer positions for Medical Coders across various levels, depending on qualifications, certifications, and experience.

1. Junior Medical Coder:

  • Ideal for: Entry-level candidates or recent graduates with relevant certifications.
  • Responsibilities: Basic coding tasks, assisting senior coders, and gaining hands-on experience under supervision.

2. Medical Coder (Mid-Level):

  • Ideal for: Candidates with 1-3 years of experience in medical coding.
  • Responsibilities: Independent coding tasks, maintaining coding accuracy, and collaborating with other teams for issue resolution.

3. Senior Medical Coder:

  • Ideal for: Candidates with 4+ years of experience, advanced certifications, or specialized coding expertise.
  • Responsibilities: Handling complex coding scenarios, mentoring junior coders, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with advanced regulatory standards.
