Medical Coder

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning standardized codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments to ensure accurate billing and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the organization and ensuring smooth insurance claim processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Medical Coding: Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, procedures, and medical services based on patient records.
• Documentation Review: Analyze medical records, physician notes, lab results, and other documentation to ensure proper coding and compliance.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, payer-specific requirements, and federal regulations such as HIPAA.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding. Identify and rectify coding discrepancies or errors.
• Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers, billing teams, and insurance companies to resolve coding-related inquiries or denials.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with changes in medical coding standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

• Pharm-D or a degree in Medical Sciences (preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent (required); an associate degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred).
• Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCA) from AAPC or AHIMA (required).

Experience:

• Minimum [1-3] years of experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software.

Skills and Competencies:
