As a Ruby on Rails Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using the Ruby on Rails framework, primarily focusing on building the back-end logic, integrating databases, and ensuring the application is scalable, efficient, and secure, while often collaborating with front-end developers to deliver a fully functional product; requiring strong proficiency in Ruby, Rails core concepts, MVC architecture, database management, and best coding practices.

Requirements
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails: Deep understanding of Rails core concepts like MVC architecture, Active Record, routing, and controllers.
  • Database knowledge: Expertise in SQL, database design, and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Front-end familiarity: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to effectively integrate with front-end components. Familiarity with Angular/React.
  • Version control: Proficiency with Git for code management.
  • Testing frameworks: Experience with testing tools like RSpec or Minitest to write comprehensive test suites.
  • Object-oriented programming: Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
Nice to have
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS
  • Knowledge of caching mechanisms like Redis
  • Familiarity with web service integration (SOAP, REST)
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Agile development methodologies like SCRUM/KANBAN
Responsibilities
  • Backend development: Writing clean, reusable, and efficient Ruby code to implement server-side application logic within the Rails framework.
  • Database design: Creating and managing database structures using SQL, including data modeling and optimization.
  • API development: Building RESTful APIs to facilitate data exchange between applications.
  • Feature development: Designing and implementing new features based on product requirements.
  • Testing and quality assurance: Writing unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure code quality and stability.
  • Performance optimization: Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to maintain application responsiveness.
  • Code review and collaboration: Participating in code reviews and collaborating with other developers to maintain code quality and consistency.
