Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to architect and deliver the backend infrastructure and core integrations for the Article 6 Participation Tech Services MVP, a web application designed to streamline carbon credit project submissions under Article 6 regulations. This role will lead the development of a secure, scalable Node.js/Express backend with MongoDB, integrating with a React frontend built by a Senior Frontend Engineer. You'll translate the Product Requirements Document (PRD) into a robust system—handling submission lifecycles, role-based authentication, and mock AI logic—deployed on Replit, ensuring readiness for a high-stakes demo.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement a Node.js (v16+) and Express backend with RESTful APIs to manage submission CRUD operations, user roles (Applicant, Reviewer, Approver, Admin), and admin features (e.g., template creation, audit logs) per PRD specifications.
  • Design and optimize MongoDB Atlas (or SQLite for Replit) schemas for submissions, user data, and state transitions, implementing AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit, and supporting scalability for 1k submissions/instance via queues.
  • Develop JWT-based authentication (24-hour expiry) with multi-role logic (e.g., no Applicant + government role overlap), integrating with frontend endpoints for secure access control.
  • Build backend logic for submission state transitions (e.g., Draft → Submitted → Approved), overdue flagging (7+ days with orange HEX #FD7E14 triggers), mock AI scoring (1-10 per section), and PDF generation triggers via html2pdf.js.
