
Veterinary Manager

• Assist the Manager – Zoo in overseeing veterinary operations, ensuring the health and welfare of all animals housed in the zoo.
• Support the development and implementation of animal healthcare programs, including disease prevention, routine treatments, and emergency care.
• Collaborate with zookeepers and staff to observe and monitor animal health, behavior, and daily condition.
• Conduct regular health checks, administer vaccinations, and assist in minor surgical procedures under guidance.
• Maintain up-to-date medical records for all zoo animals, ensuring proper documentation of treatments and health history.
• Supervise veterinary support staff such as assistants and technicians, and ensure adherence to proper animal care standards.
• Coordinate with external zoo veterinary consultants when needed for complex cases.
• Assist in reviewing animal enclosures from a veterinary standpoint to ensure safe and healthy environments.
• Participate in zoo-based animal health research or surveys, contributing to ongoing welfare improvement efforts.
• Stay current with advancements in zoo veterinary practices through continuous learning and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with relevant zoo veterinary standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support coordination and communication between the veterinary team and other departments within the zoo.
• Respond promptly to animal health emergencies, assisting in appropriate intervention procedures.
• Contribute to zoo conservation and education programs by providing support in animal care and awareness activities.
• Participate in public outreach events, guided tours, and educational programs to promote understanding of zoo animal health and welfare.
Education: Doctorate/Bachelor's in Veterinary Medicine
Experience: Minimum 3–4 years of relevant experience specifically in zoo animal healthcare and management
