Job Brief

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer (Java) to join our dynamic and innovative ride-hailing team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our ride-hailing platform. Your expertise in Java and distributed systems will be critical to delivering a seamless experience for riders and drivers while supporting the growth of our platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Understanding requirements around functionality and develop state of the art software that is efficient, scalable and durable.
  2. Be responsible for enhancing and maintaining a highly transactional Java platform and build new Microservices.
  3. Work as part of an amazing team of like-minded individuals with a can-do attitude to change the world.
  4. Proactively identify technical debt, where the platform can be optimized, and introduce operational efficiencies.
  5. Design and produce performant, scalable, highly transactional software that adheres to functional and nonfunctional requirements, and be able to explain them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Estimate, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  7. Support the execution of production deployments and go-lives.
  8. Contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  9. Working closely with all team members to understand full-stack functionality and architecture.
  10. Contributing ideas (technological and product) to enhance the overall app experience.
  11. Staying abreast with technological updates and implementing technology improvements after R&D.
  12. Ensure adherence to engineering processes such as code reviews, source control, unit testing, use case analysis, defect management, continuous integration and deployment.
  13. Supporting teams by developing documentation and assistance tools.
Requirements:
  1. BS degree in Computer Sciences.
  2. 4-6 years of commercial experience in Java.
  3. Proven experience with Spring Frameworks including Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring Data.
  4. Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, UNIX-based operating systems, and Microservices.
  5. Experience with relational DBs such as MySQL and NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB.
  6. Sound knowledge of AWS.
  7. Experience developing and designing RESTful APIs.
  8. Ability to choose the right technology for the task at hand, whether it turns out to be the latest framework or an established one.
  9. Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, design patterns, SOLID principles, transaction management and development best practices.
  10. Strong and innovative approach towards problem-solving and finding solutions.
  11. Flexible and proactive/self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.
  12. Good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  13. Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis and CI/CD pipeline.
  14. Ability to estimate, prioritize and execute tasks either by pair programming or single-handedly in a high-pressure environment.
  15. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  16. Good team player that is enthusiastic about delivering results.
  17. Experience working with Agile teams or startups.
