Cloud Systems Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a versatile and highly motivated Cloud Systems Engineer to manage and support our hybrid infrastructure spanning cloud and on-premises systems. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, able to adapt to a wide range of technologies, and passionate about maintaining robust, secure, and high-performing systems. This role requires hands-on experience in Azure cloud services, Windows and Linux server administration, domain and DNS management, scripting, and a good understanding of high-availability and web hosting architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, including VMs, networking, storage, security, and PaaS services.
  
• Maintain and optimize DNS and domain configurations, including Cloudflare, registrar settings, and SSL certificates.
  
• Administer Windows Server and Linux environments (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.), including patching, automation, and performance tuning.
  
• Configure and manage web server platforms: IIS, Apache, and NGINX.
  
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, and domain trusts in a hybrid identity environment.
  
• Administer SQL Server instances and assist with performance tuning, backups, and patching.
  
• Support and troubleshoot issues related to website hosting, load balancers, and high-availability deployments.
  
• Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation, monitoring, and provisioning tasks.
  
• Participate in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, ARM templates, etc.) where applicable.
  
• Monitor system health, logs, and alerts to ensure high availability and security.
  
• Assist in audits, documentation, and compliance-related initiatives.
  
• Collaborate with developers, security, and support teams to maintain and evolve the infrastructure stack.
  

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS services.
  
• Strong knowledge of DNS, domain registration, and Cloudflare CDN and security services.
  
• Proven experience administering both Windows Server and Linux systems in production environments.
  
• Expertise in managing web servers (IIS, Apache, NGINX) in load-balanced and secure configurations.
  
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid identity solutions.
  
• Working knowledge of SQL Server administration and troubleshooting.
  
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation and operational tasks.
  
• Solid understanding of website hosting infrastructure, load balancers, and high-availability architecture.
  
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes.
  
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, platforms, and technologies.
  
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
  

Preferred/Bonus Skills

• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Data Dog, New Relic)
  
• Understanding of security best practices, firewalls, and zero trust architecture.
  
• Experience managing or supporting Cisco Meraki networking equipment (MX, MR, MS), including site-to-site VPNs and SD-WAN.
  
• Familiarity with Cisco AnyConnect VPN, including user access control, troubleshooting, and integration with identity providers.
  
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar.
