As a Software Engineer II, Data Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the CCB Cards Technology team, you will be an integral part of an agile team that enhances, builds, and delivers data collection, storage, access, and analytics in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Leverage your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to drive business impact and address challenges across multiple data pipelines, architectures, and consumers.

Job responsibilities

• Execute software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technically with innovative approaches to solve problems.
• Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms aligned with systems.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met.
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reports from large, diverse data sets to improve software applications and systems.
• Design and deliver trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics platforms securely and scalably.
• Define database backup, recovery, and archiving strategies.
• Develop data pipelines to ingest, store, and process data from various sources.
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Contribute to communities of practice exploring new technologies.
• Promote a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering and 2+ years of experience.
• Experience with AWS cloud technologies, including S3.
• Experience with SQL-based technologies like MySQL or Oracle DB.
• Proficiency in Java and Python programming languages.
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large environments using modern programming and database querying languages.
• Cloud implementation experience with AWS, including services like Lake Formation, Glue, EMR, S3, Athena, Kinesis, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• Knowledge of data formats like Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO, JSON-LD.
• Understanding of AWS security concepts such as IAM, KMS, encryption, and secrets management.
• Experience with statistical data analysis and appropriate tools.
• Knowledge of software applications and processes in technical disciplines like cloud, AI, ML, or mobile.
• Proficiency in automation and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Knowledge or experience with Snowflake.
• Deep understanding of the financial services industry and IT systems.
• Experience building data lakes, data platforms, and data frameworks.
