Senior Policy

Gladman Developments, based in Congleton, Cheshire, is the UK's most active and successful land promoter. We partner with landowners to help realize the potential of their land through residential or residential-led mixed-use development.

Reporting to the Planning Manager/Planning Director, as a Senior Planner, you will work within the Planning & Projects department to secure local planning permissions or promote major strategic sites through the Local Plan process and planning applications. You may serve as the Lead Planner for specific sites, working under a Senior Project Manager/Planning Director as the Project Lead. Your role involves formulating and implementing planning strategies for sites, requiring strategic and short-term thinking. You will also delegate tasks effectively and support the professional development of junior planners.

1. Drafting and signing off reports to support planning applications, appeals, and policy presentations.
2. Supporting Planning Directors, Planning Managers, and Senior Project Managers, along with broader planning responsibilities as assigned by senior colleagues.
3. Reviewing reports from external consultants, providing feedback, and giving final approval.
4. Conducting research to develop strategies for site promotion, allocation, or planning applications.
5. Producing well-researched reports and representations to aid site promotion or planning application submissions.
6. Attending meetings and interviews with landowners and agents to secure new sites for promotion.
7. Developing and implementing planning and engagement strategies for sites.
8. Visiting sites and meeting with landowners, agents, and local authority officers.
9. Managing workload effectively and meeting deadlines, including task delegation.
10. Engaging with the public, including organizing formal consultation events when necessary.
11. Supporting team members, including planners and graduate planners, with queries and research tasks.
