About the Role

As a Senior Data Analyst at Valus, you will play a leading role in transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that guide strategic decisions across the business. You will also lead and support a team of analysts, ensuring delivery excellence, shared learning, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with product, marketing, engineering, and operations to bring structure to unstructured problems, design impactful reporting systems, and empower teams through data. This role combines analytical expertise, business awareness, and team leadership to drive data-informed outcomes that matter.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies

• Lead and mentor junior and mid-level data analysts while fostering a culture of learning, quality, and ownership.
• Translate business needs into structured analysis and deliver clear, business-ready insights.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests from stakeholders and leadership, providing fast and reliable insights.
• Work hands-on with SQL and Python or R to explore data, build models, and automate reporting.
• Create dashboards using Power BI and Tableau, applying DAX, Power Query, and Tableau Calculations to visualize trends and support decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align KPIs and promote data-driven action.
• Define and maintain documentation and data standards to ensure reporting consistency.
• Build scalable data models and reporting frameworks that support growth and self-service analytics.
• Support experimentation, A/B testing, and hypothesis validation.
• Represent the data team in leadership planning and cross-department strategy sessions.

Qualifications And Skills

• 5 or more years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field
• Experience mentoring or leading other analysts or BI professionals
• Proficiency in SQL for complex querying and data manipulation
• Hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX and Power Query) and Tableau (Calculated Fields and LOD Expressions)
• Working knowledge of Python or R for advanced analysis and automation
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to present insights to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience working in product, retail, or data-driven environments
• Strong sense of ownership, prioritization, and delivery in fast-paced settings

Good to Have

• Exposure to machine learning techniques such as clustering, forecasting, or recommendations
• Familiarity with tools such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Azure ML
• Understanding of AI-driven personalization, uplift modeling, or experimentation frameworks
• Experience working with modern cloud-based data environments like Snowflake, BigQuery, or dbt
