Responsibilities:

Job Purpose: The Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) Specialist will play a critical role in the design and implementation of effective communication strategies to promote health and hygiene behaviours, ensuring the project's success in improving health outcomes at the community level.

  • BCC Strategy Development: Design and implement behaviour change communication strategies tailored to RMNCH and WASH practices for targeted communities, with a focus on women, children, and healthcare workers.
  • Content Creation & Messaging: Develop culturally relevant communication materials, including brochures, posters, radio spots, and digital content, to promote positive health and hygiene behaviours.
  • Community Engagement: Lead community mobilization activities, working with local partners and stakeholders to facilitate discussions, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote behaviour change.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Train and mentor community health workers, project staff, and local partners on effective BCC techniques and messaging for community outreach.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Support in monitoring and evaluating the impact of BCC activities, assessing behaviour change outcomes and adjusting strategies as needed for maximum effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with the project team, local health authorities, and community leaders to ensure that BCC strategies align with project objectives and local needs.
  • Quality Control: Ensure regular review of the BCC strategy, plans, approaches and tools to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.

Reporting: Prepare regular reports and updates on BCC activities, outcomes, and lessons learned to share with project leadership and donors.

Person Specification

Education:

  • Master's degree in behavioural sciences, public health, social sciences or a related field.

Experience:

  • 05 (five) years of experience in Behaviour Change Communications and public health programmes in a variety of contexts.
  • Experience of working in developing strategies for RMNCH and WASH focused interventions.
  • Proven experience and understanding of behaviour change approaches, issues in Pakistan.
  • Proven experience in leading large, complex BCC programmes and/or managing large scale donor funded programmes.
  • Proven experience in leading and/or working on consortia projects.
  • Excellent understanding of community behaviours, influencers and how change happens at the community level.
  • Very good understanding of community-based qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Deep understanding of WASH issues in rural Pakistan.
  • Ability to use different leadership styles and in leading teams directly and through matrix management.
  • Substantial experiences in facilitating, training and capacity development on approaches widely applied in the sector.
  • Gender equality and inclusion awareness.
  • High quality written/verbal communication skills including exceptional report writing skills.
  • Relationship-building skills and ability to work with diverse people/teams and collaborate with different stakeholders and groups where required.
  • Good understanding of development issues in Pakistan with experience of working with international development organizations.
  • Experiences working in rural/low-income settings in partnership with the Government and local partners.
  • Knowledge of local/regional languages.
  • Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision.
  • Knowledge of political structure, culture and policy making processes in Pakistan.
