Responsibilities

The Apparel Costing Specialist will ensure accurate, transparent, and competitive garment costings across both adult and children's apparel, supporting margin targets and overall business profitability. This role is key in guiding cost-effective decisions during product development by providing timely, detailed cost analysis and input. Working closely with design, production, and sourcing teams, as well as with international suppliers, the Costing Specialist helps manage cost control, negotiates with vendors, and identifies opportunities for cost optimisation. Maintaining reliable costing data and continuously seeking value-engineering options—such as optimising material usage or construction methods—is essential to improve efficiency without compromising on product quality or compliance.

Qualifications

·Higher education in Design, Arts, Product Engineering or similar

·Essential: English B1, dialogue and strong negotiation skills

·Excel user level – Comfortable with formulas, cost breakdowns, experience with PLM or ERP systems is a bonus

·Solid background in garment costing, with at least 5 years' experience – ideally across both adult and children's apparel.

·Experience working directly with offshore suppliers and manufacturers (e.g., China, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Vietnam).

·Comfortable working with numbers and cost targets, but with a commercial and practical mindset

·Experience in fashion is a must - seasonal, or costume products is a plus, but not essential.
