Riphah International University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Professor of Surgery to join our esteemed faculty. The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge in general surgery and contribute to the academic excellence of our institution. This role involves managing a team of ten professionals, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and clinical practice. The successful candidate must have qualifications and experience that meet the criteria set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and be committed to advancing the field through teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities in a dynamic and supportive academic setting. Located at the IIMCT Pakistan Railway Hospital, this position provides an opportunity for the right individual to shape the future of surgical education and practice at a leading institution.
Responsibilities

  1. Arrange and deliver lectures for MBBS / BDS students, including seminars, clinical and practical skills sessions, small group discussions, evaluations, and assessments according to the curriculum.
  2. Facilitate postgraduate trainees (FCPS and MCPS) in clinical presentation, small group discussions, case-based and problem-based teaching, Journal Club, psychomotor skills training, and preparation for examinations and dissertations.
  3. Assist the Head of Department / Professor in organizing CPC/clinical meetings and conferences in collaboration with other professional organizations.
  4. Coordinate and support faculty members and postgraduate trainees in research and development activities, including publication requirements and career development.
  5. Teach basic management of common patient care problems, emergency treatment, and decision-making for appropriate treatment to develop clinical and practical skills of students.
  6. Ensure regular outpatient department (OPD) sessions for ongoing medical care and supervise new patient referrals for specialist advice.
  7. Conduct ward rounds to monitor and manage inpatient care.
  8. Perform medical procedures in the ward under senior consultants' supervision and ensure diagnostics and investigations are carried out appropriately.
  9. Participate in on-call duties after regular hours to provide round-the-clock care for critical patients.
  10. Assist in departmental inquiries related to mortalities.
  11. Manage, supervise, and train postgraduate students, medical officers, house officers, and paramedical staff to ensure quality patient care and enhance their management skills.
