Job Summary

The Dispenser reports to a team leader of the medical team or head of the department or health facility manager as assigned by the country team. The position will be responsible to properly store/arrange, dispense prescribed medication by authorized clinician and compile reporting on medicine at the health facility or mobile medical team.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

Main Tasks And Responsibilities
  1. Dispense prescribed medicines, maintain stocks, and maintain daily/weekly/monthly record based on formats provided.
  2. Strictly adhere to and follow prescription in medicine dispensing.
  3. Explain in detail and counsel all patients on medicine use, time/frequency, route, precautions, expected side effects and completion of treatment course, and when to return to pick medicine if advised by the health care provider.
  4. Properly label medicine in line with the global standards.
  5. Provide full course of treatment to patients.
  6. In collaboration with the pharmacist, ensure availability of medicine at all times, prevent stockouts and request medicine timely from the warehouse.
  7. Ensure maintenance of temperature for medicine storage and dispensing sites.
  8. Ensure that all patient-related information is accurately registered and recorded within the provided registers.
  9. Adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, patient communications, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables, and other medical supplies.
  10. Update bin cards daily.
  11. Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly consumption record and share with relevant program staff.
  12. Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services.
  13. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor as part of the team.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Qualified and registered dispenser from a recognized nursing institute with a valid license to practice or an equivalent qualification acceptable in the country.
  2. Previous experience in the same capacity will be an edge.
  3. Previous NGO experience preferable.
  4. Good communication and public dealing skills while performing duties in the public health care service.
  5. Good knowledge of medicines utilization and dosages.
  6. Good English reading and writing skills.
