The Work You'll Do

This role blends engineering depth with product intimacy. You'll own backend development, infrastructure, and technical evolution — in an environment that values clarity, simplicity, and reliability.

  • Operate on bare-metal Debian Linux servers with direct access to production
  • Deploy applications via WAR files to Apache Tomcat
  • Use Gradle, TeamCity, Cypress, and IntelliJ IDEA to build, test, and deploy
  • Contribute to scaling the system across physical servers
  • Join discussions around frontend evolution (e.g., React) and native app development
  • Must have knowledge of MariaDB, MySQL & NoSQL
  • Maintain a strong focus on testing, stability, and thoughtful changes
  • Be the kind of teammate who looks at a system and asks how it could be better, not just how it works

We want someone who:

  • Has 4+ years of solid backend experience/front end, ideally with Java/Kotlin
  • Has run systems on bare-metal or low-abstraction environments
  • Finds joy in simplicity, not complexity for its own sake
  • Cares about the user experience, even if they never touch the UI
  • Is curious, energetic, thoughtful, and easy to be around
  • Can handle both deep focus time and lighthearted Slack banter
