Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. developing training material and conducting regular training of staff on research/interviewing skills and data collection processes
  2. effectively managing fieldwork processes to ensure efficiency
  3. conducting interviews independently and taking thorough notes during observational visits and interviews
  4. liaising with admin regarding logistics for fieldwork
  5. visiting field sites for monitoring and auditing purposes to ensure proper field operations as per the guidelines and SOPs provided
  6. doing home visits and teaching the research participant to prepare the Nutritional milk supplementation
  7. facilitating meetings among the research team and junior research staff
  8. ensuring field implementation of project-related SOPs and deadlines as defined in the research project
  9. performing all other duties assigned from time to time by the Manager/research specialist in connection with the research projects
  10. checking the dashboard of the study regularly to ensure the due visits
  11. checking the data completion and quality.

Requirements

You should have:

  1. Master's degree in any social science subject
  2. two to three years of relevant work experience in managing community-based projects
  3. team management experience required
  4. work on Maternal and child health, particularly dealing with breastfeeding is desirable
  5. knowledge about early child development and neurodevelopmental assessments
  6. strong communication and interpersonal skills
  7. the ability to work in a team setting
  8. good writing skills
  9. basic knowledge of surveys and other research designs
  10. strong interpersonal skills and communication
  11. willingness to work on field sites.
