Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and overseeing all operational activities related to the exploration and extraction of an Alluvial Gold Deposit. The role requires a strong focus on achieving production and exploration goals within the framework of safety, operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Planning and Oversight:

• Design and implement alluvial mining plans based on geological models and production strategy.
• Lead the operation of trommel systems, material classification, gravity concentration (shaking tables, centrifugal concentrators), and tailings management.
• Coordinate and supervise geological exploration campaigns, including sampling and metallurgical testing.
• Develop and monitor production schedules to meet planned targets.

Equipment and Machinery Management:

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of excavation and hauling equipment (excavators, loaders, pumps) and processing equipment (trommel, screens, concentrators, etc.).
• Propose technical upgrades and coordinate acquisition of new machinery as needed

Water Management and Environmental Stewardship:

• Design and implement water intake, usage, and recirculation systems to minimize consumption and discharge.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations concerning wastewater, solid and liquid waste, and emissions.
• Coordinate progressive land restoration and revegetation programs.

Land Management and Rehabilitation:

• Lead planning for temporary land use during mining operations.
• Ensure progressive rehabilitation of disturbed areas during and after operations.
• Supervise implementation of environmental compensation measures (reforestation, soil recovery, etc.).

Personnel Management and Safety:

• Manage and train the operations team, including supervisors, operators, mechanics, and field personnel.
• Enforce occupational health and safety protocols.
• Promote a culture of prevention, discipline, and operational excellence.

Legal Compliance and Social Responsibility:

• Ensure all activities comply with mining, environmental, and labour regulations.
• Maintain active relationships with local communities, authorities, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in sustainable development and social inclusion initiatives.

Cost Control and Reporting:

• Monitor operational costs, resource use, and productivity per processed ton.
• Prepare regular reports on production progress, consumption, and metallurgical efficiency.
• Develop performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement measures.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in alluvial or placer mining operations, with proven experience in operational leadership roles.

Technical Knowledge: Gravity concentration, water management, land rehabilitation, and knowledge of environmental and mining regulations.

Skills: Leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution, effective communication, and results orientation.

Other: Willingness to work in remote rural locations and lead multidisciplinary field teams.
