Senior Lead Site Reliability Engineer

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you will work with your stakeholders to define non-functional requirements (NFRs) and availability targets for your application and product lines. You will ensure these NFRs are incorporated into your products' design and testing phases, that your service level indicators effectively measure customer experience, and that service level objectives are defined with stakeholders and implemented in production.

Job responsibilities

1. Create high-quality designs, roadmaps, and program charters that are delivered by you or the engineers under your guidance.
2. Provide advice and mentorship to other engineers and act as a key resource for technologists seeking guidance on technical and business-related issues.
3. Demonstrate site reliability principles and practices daily and champion their adoption throughout your team.
4. Collaborate to create and implement observability and reliability designs for complex systems that are robust, stable, and minimize toil or technical debt.
5. Develop expertise on applications and platforms within your remit, understanding their interdependencies and limitations.
6. Evolve and debug critical components of applications and platforms.
7. Offer ongoing guidance, tools, and solutions to support the firm's growth.
8. Contribute significantly to JPMorgan Chase's site reliability community via internal forums, communities of practice, guilds, and conferences.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience. Additionally, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical issues within your domain.
2. Advanced knowledge of site reliability culture and principles, with demonstrated ability to implement these within an application or platform.
3. Extensive experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, including monitoring, service level objectives, alerting, and telemetry collection.
4. Deep understanding of software applications and technical processes, with expertise in one or more technical disciplines.
5. Ability to communicate data-driven solutions using complex reporting and visualization methods.
6. Active contributor to the engineering community.
7. Ability to evaluate vendors and assess how their offerings fit into the firm's strategy.
8. Proficiency in troubleshooting defects during testing phases.
9. Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and educate on site reliability principles.
10. Experience with AWS storage, Snowflake, event-based architectures, batch jobs, Kubernetes, EKS, streaming services, and cloud-based data and analytics architectures.
11. Proficiency in designing and managing scalable, reliable, and high-performance data and analytics platforms.
