Contract length: Up to three years

Role Overview:

As the Assistant Lead Coach, you will serve as the primary support and operational partner to the Lead Coach, playing a vital role in implementing the academy's training philosophy across all branches. You will act as the bridge between the Lead Coach and the wider coaching team, ensuring consistency, alignment, and excellence in our football education standards. In addition to direct coaching duties, you will mentor and develop the coaching staff, assist with administrative tasks, and serve as a key figure in communication with parents and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching Responsibilities

• Implement Legends Academy's training programs modeled on European FA principles, in alignment with the Lead Coach (LC).
• Communicate effectively with the Lead Coach regarding all aspects of football operations, including player and parent engagement.
• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate training sessions, pre-discussed and approved by the LC.
• Provide constructive, personalized feedback to players to support individual growth and development.
• Foster a team culture grounded in teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Emphasize holistic player development, focusing on personal growth, character building, and social skills.
• Create a positive and inclusive environment that promotes a development culture centered on "learning through fun."
• Serve as a positive role model for all players at all times, upholding professionalism and integrity.
• Administer and implement the Lead Coach's coach development strategy across all grounds.
• Oversee and support the progression of coaching staff from Junior to Assistant, and Assistant to Senior Coach.
• Mentor Senior Coaches, ensuring alignment with academy philosophy and delivery standards.
• Conduct internal training workshops, provide feedback on session quality, and support
• Actively shape a culture of collaboration, feedback, and accountability within the coaching team.

Operational & Administrative Support

• Work in tandem with the Lead Coach and Operations Team to structure and schedule weekly and monthly coaching plans across all branches.
• Ensure that coaches are following their responsibilities with ground management i.e monthly equipment checks, safeguarding reports and anything else assigned by Lead Coach for smooth execution of academy sessions
• Assist in organizing academy events including tournaments, friendly matches, domestic trips, and international tours.
• Assist day-today by supporting pitch setup, managing equipment, and troubleshooting logistics on-ground.
• Maintain accurate internal records including player attendance, team selections, and training assessments.
• Ensure all staff follow operational guidelines and represent the academy's values on and off the pitch.

Skills and experience:

• A love and passion for football and working with young people
• Energy, passion, enthusiasm and a proactive approach
• Recognized coaching qualifications (minimum UEFA C)
• An understanding of how to differentiate and tailor coaching sessions to both individual and collective development needs
• Ability to work towards set, short and long-term targets
• Exceptional communication skills and an ability to adapt to new environments
• Ability to work on one's own initiative and plan and manage workload

Qualifications:

• Minimum requirement of UEFA C coaching certification in English.
• Desired qualification of UEFA B coaching certification.
• In-depth knowledge of football techniques, strategies, and training methodologies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and academy staff.
• Ability to inspire and motivate young players, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment
• Flexibility to accommodate evening, weekend, and irregular hours to align with training sessions and matches.
• Passion for football and a commitment to the holistic development of young athletes.
