Hostel Warden

Hostel Warden is responsible for the following actions:

Hostel life is considered as an informal form of education. The out of house experience provides an environment favorable for self-learning and maximizes opportunities for the students, which could also be nurtured and supported through living in a community-friendly environment.

The main role of the hostel warden is the provision of pastoral care (spiritual guidance) and intellectual guidance to the residents of the hostel. The hostel warden deals with any problem that arises, provides a sense of stability, and acts as a source of advice for anyone in difficulty. She is also responsible for some basic housekeeping, ensuring that the place is kept clean and maintains an environment conducive for learning and safe for living. The hostel warden may develop a homely atmosphere at the hostel.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain an attendance register and verify the attendance of all the residents at a particular notified time i.e. 3:00pm
2. Plan for the upgradation of facilities in the hostels.
3. Ensure maintenance of discipline in and around the hostel.
4. Act as custodian and in-charge of all the hostel properties and verify the stock periodically.
5. Maintain a record of the real relations with photographs and copies of ID cards for those authorized to pick/drop students in the hostel.
6. Develop a timetable for various activities in the hostel, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, sports, TV, and study time.
7. Maintain common rooms with TV, newspapers, and periodicals.
8. Make arrangements for indoor games.
9. Provide practical help to students with basic life skills e.g. personal hygiene and time management.
10. Maintain discipline and an exemplary atmosphere of higher learning and excellent etiquette.
11. Ensure that hostel rules are followed in letter and spirit.
12. Assign and coordinate work of domestic staff in the hostel.
13. Sign leave passes for students after proper verification from the student records.
14. Start a campaign to change the lifestyle of the students and encourage the following practices:

• Every student should recite the Holy Quran in the morning.
• Every student should be punctual for five-time prayers.
• Every student should dedicate maximum time to studies.

Promptly SMS parents regarding students' departures and arrivals.Ensure proper disposal of garbage, including sanitary items, from the hostel.Maintain a record of all emergency phone numbers of students and authorities.Check for unauthorized use of electrical appliances.Maintain the record of visitors.Keep track of room allocation and inspect all the rooms daily.Not allow outsiders to stay overnight in the hostel.Be responsible for the security and safety of the students.Ensure dress codes are followed, particularly for students attending classes in proper uniform.Keep a duplicate key box.Check periodically that no objectionable items or posters are present in the rooms of any student.Ensure that no student smokes, consumes alcohol, or uses other intoxicating drugs in the hostel.Prevent students from participating in politics or inviting politicians into the hostel.Be alert to check that no student keeps or uses any type of weapon or firearms in the hostel.Organize a committee of students under her supervision to focus on the following:

• Promote growth and development of students with coherent views of knowledge, integrity, intellectual and social perspective.
• Construct a resident hostel curriculum that teaches students respect, altruism, aspiration, persistence, empathy, and leadership.
• Create an environment where students come together and differences are respected.
• Create/maintain an educational living environment free from disputes, where students realize their responsibilities and mutual respect.
• Help students organize a mess committee to monitor the functioning of the mess, including purchases and supplies.
• Periodically visit the kitchen to monitor cleanliness of cooking items and utensils.
• Inform the cook of any negligence and deficiencies, ensuring hygienic standards are followed and leftovers are stored properly.
• Students are required to collect food from the counter and return utensils to designated places.
• Notify the timings for food serving.Requirement

Minimum Bachelor's degree with computer skills in MS Office and 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Salary: Salary Package will commensurate with qualification and experience.
