Overview

Teacher – Chemistry for Grades 8–12. The Chemistry teacher will deliver Cambridge and CBSE curricula effectively, ensure strong conceptual understanding and academic performance, plan and conduct practicals, prepare students for board and internal assessments, and maintain academic records. The role includes differentiating instruction to meet varied learning needs and collaborating with the department for curriculum alignment. Active participation in professional development and student mentoring is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging chemistry lessons that connect theory to real-life applications.
• Ensure syllabus completion in line with curriculum timelines and exam readiness.
• Guide students through lab experiments safely, ensuring understanding of concepts behind each activity.
• Assess students regularly and fairly through tests, practicals, and projects, and support improvement.
• Be accountable for tracking academic performance and working toward strong student outcomes.
• As a class teacher, build a positive classroom culture, mentor students, and manage day-to-day routines.
• Communicate regularly with parents to support student development and well-being.
• Contribute to school life by assisting with academic events, exhibitions, or inter-house competitions.
• Keep the classroom displays vibrant, reflecting learning and student achievements.
• Recognise different learning needs and differentiate instruction to support and challenge each student.
• Work closely with the department and grade-level team to share ideas, resources, and best practices.
• Attend team meetings and planning sessions; contribute to school initiatives.
• Stay updated with curriculum changes and pedagogy through professional development.
• Be open to learning and growing as a teacher and mentor to students.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Master's Degree in Chemistry is preferred.
• Cambridge/CIE/IGCSE training or certification is a strong advantage for international curriculum roles.
• 4–8 years of teaching experience in High School (Grades 8–12).
• Experience in handling CBSE board exams or Cambridge IGCSE/A Level Chemistry.
• Proven track record of academic results and student growth.
• Experience conducting science exhibitions, lab practicals, Olympiad coaching, or extended learning projects is desirable.
• Strong content knowledge in Chemistry: Physical, Organic, and Inorganic.
• Ability to deliver concept-based and inquiry-led learning.
• Skilled in differentiating instruction for mixed-ability classrooms.
• Competency in evaluating performance and giving constructive feedback.
• Experience conducting and supervising lab work and ensuring safety compliance.
• Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, especially with parents and school teams.
• Comfortable using technology in teaching – smartboards, Microsoft Teams, etc.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, department heads, and academic coordinators.
• Warm, approachable, and empathetic toward students' academic and emotional needs.
• Flexible and open to continuous learning and new teaching strategies.
• Able to contribute to school events, house activities, and class teacher responsibilities.
• Commitment to professional ethics and school values.
