Position ObjectivesThe Psychologist will provide psychosocial support (PSS) and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services to conflict- and flood-affected internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. The role focuses on addressing trauma, grief, and stress, while strengthening resilience and coping strategies among vulnerable groups (women, children, older people, and persons with disabilities). The Psychologist will also contribute to awareness-raising, capacity-building, and referral mechanisms within the ECHO-funded Health, WASH, and MPCA interventions.
Responsibilities, Duties, and Accountabilities- Psychosocial Support & Clinical Care
- Conduct psychological assessments of affected individuals, identifying needs with a focus on vulnerable groups (women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities).
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions addressing trauma, stress, grief, and other mental health challenges.
- Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) to individuals in acute distress, particularly during emergency and crisis situations.
- Facilitate community-based support mechanisms such as peer groups, support circles, and structured counselling sessions.
- Develop and implement interventions promoting positive coping strategies, stress management, and resilience-building.
- Community Engagement & Awareness
- Conduct awareness sessions on mental health, psychosocial well-being, stress management, and coping mechanisms.
- Collaborate with program teams (Health, WASH, and MPCA) to integrate psychosocial support within broader humanitarian interventions.
- Strengthen referral pathways for individuals requiring specialized psychiatric, medical, or protection services.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain confidential case records and update databases with PSS/MHPSS data in compliance with organizational standards.
- Document case studies and lessons learned to inform program improvement and donor reporting.
- Support the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on PSS/MHPSS activities for submission to PRCS and ECHO.
- Safeguarding & Protection
- Ensure all services are delivered in a culturally sensitive, gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and age-appropriate manner.
- Apply a survivor-centered approach in responding to safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely referrals to appropriate services.
- Report any safeguarding incidents through PRCS internal reporting mechanisms.
- Complete mandatory safeguarding and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) training and ensure adherence to safeguarding standards.
- Coordination & Capacity Building
- Work in close coordination with health teams, WASH specialists, and CVA/MPCA teams to ensure integrated responses.
- Provide technical support and capacity-building to staff and volunteers on PFA, stress management, and psychosocial support.
- Participate in inter-agency coordination forums on MHPSS, protection, and humanitarian response.
Master's degree in clinical psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field (BSc with relevant experience may be considered).
Experience- Minimum 3–5 years of overall professional experience as a psychologist.
- At least 2 years in humanitarian/emergency contexts, including PFA and community-based MHPSS.
- Minimum 1 year of psychotherapeutic practice (individual and group counselling).
- Experience in conducting clinical interventions (not limited to PSS).
- Experience working with vulnerable groups (women, children, older people, PWDs).
- Prior experience with the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement or donor-funded projects (ECHO, EU, UN) is an asset.
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams and supporting integrated humanitarian programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Pashto and Urdu (English is an asset).
- Ability to work under pressure, in remote and emergency settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in rapidly changing emergency contexts.

- Maximum age limit, up to 40 years.
- Extensive travelling/travel to field locations with MHT as required
