Medical Billing And AR Specialist / Medical Transcriptionist

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Strong understanding of CPT/ICD 10 codes.
  • Ability to read and identify a HCFA CMS 1500 claim form.
  • Strong understanding of fee schedules, LCD's, Medicare/Medicaid, and secondary insurances.
  • Handling providers billing for inpatient/outpatient, TMS, and ADHD testing. Must have a good understanding of charge capture, patient's demo entry, insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, and denials.
  • Proficient with insurance verification (copays, deductibles, co-insurance, out of pocket, coordination of benefits, insurance pre-authorization).
  • Excellent phone etiquette and ability to solve patient's issues. Must be able to call insurance and patients for denials, coordination of benefits, and other related issues.
  • Strong understanding of reading and posting ERA/EOBs.
  • Capable of handling volume and working on rejections and denials on a daily basis. Must be a self-starter; we are a fast-paced company, so the person should be a good learner and able to handle the volume.
  • The person must be a multitasker and a good team player. Able to meet monthly billing targets.

Medical Transcriptionist Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe dictated audio recordings made by physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Transcribe medical notes conforming with AHDI guidelines, physician's instructions, and using correct templates.
  • Listen, pause, rewind, and forward audio recordings to correctly transcribe in given format of MS Word or EHR.
  • Transcribe and produce discharge summaries, medical history and physical examination reports, operative reports, consultation reports, autopsy reports, diagnostic-imaging studies, progress notes, referral letters or anything else that has been provided in dictations.
  • Transcribe documents without errors and using correct grammar.
  • Complete and forward transcribed documents within assigned deadline so that turnaround time (TAT) is met on a regular basis.
  • Use medical terminology to accurately convey diagnosis or treatment, including medicals, i.e., ICDs, CPTs, etc.
  • Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for keeping patient information confidential.
  • Ensure high-quality patient care by producing correct transcriptions.
