
Laboratory Technician

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The technician ensures accuracy, timeliness, and quality of test results while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, label, and prepare biological specimens (e.g., blood, urine, swabs) for testing.
- Perform routine laboratory tests such as blood counts, urinalysis, and cultures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, analyzers, and microscopes.
- Record and analyze test results accurately, reporting findings to physicians or supervisors.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Calibrate instruments and participate in quality control procedures.
- Follow strict safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of lab supplies.
- Participate in internal audits and accreditation compliance.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
ExperienceMinimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Skills- Knowledge of lab equipment, procedures, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and laboratory information systems.
