Overview

The role is responsible for leading the plant quality agenda by managing the QA laboratory and ensuring testing of all products and incoming materials according to AMENA Analytical procedures. The role also involves ensuring production within PI specifications and working closely with the operations team to rectify process-related issues. Additionally, the role manages coordination with regional and sector teams on laboratory programs to align business objectives.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage IPS Laboratory system program and ensure compliance with IPS laboratory standards (ASHA) at the plant.
  2. Lead the implementation of PepsiCo laboratory standards at Frito-Lay plants and third-party manufacturing sites through effective execution of AQC, proficiency, and calibration programs.
  3. Oversee training and capability development of the lab team for AMENA laboratory systems, ensuring effectiveness through on-the-job evaluations.
  4. Coordinate with R&D and plant teams regarding new specifications, analytical testing, and product trials, leading the execution of controls for new launches in line with their specifications.
  5. Manage a balanced duty plan for the laboratory team to ensure work-life balance and comprehensive shift coverage. Track PMP for direct reports and develop appropriate development plans.
  6. Ensure compliance with plant quality KPIs against AOP and develop action plans for continuous improvement through stakeholder collaboration.
  7. Develop and ensure compliance with MOH quality and laboratory programs, and plan CAPEX projects aligned with the AMENA quality and laboratory development roadmap.
  8. Conduct root cause analysis and develop action plans for market complaints related to analytical attributes and testing.
  9. Coordinate effectively with regional and sector teams to align laboratory updates, training, and process improvements.
  10. Ensure availability of laboratory supplies (chemicals, glassware, general items) to prevent interruptions or downtime.
  11. Ensure laboratory instruments are calibrated according to ISO-17025 guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  12. Perform any additional tasks or projects assigned by the Line Manager as part of this role.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology or Chemistry with 5 years of FMCG experience.
  • Food Technology three-year diploma with 10 years of FMCG experience.
  • SET Laboratory systems certification is a prerequisite.
  • Good knowledge of material testing and quality assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and quality standards, preferably with ISO 17025 lead auditor certification.
Experience and Competencies
  • 5-10 years of experience in FMCG.
  • Efficient and comprehensive approach to tasks.
  • Strong auditing and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical instruments and physio-chemical testing techniques.
