The Role:

We are thrilled to welcome a Senior Earthing Design Engineer to our expanding Earthing team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (EHV, Electrical, Protection, Civils and Contractors) on large- and small-scale infrastructure projects across Multi-Utility, EHV and the EVC industries. Works involve designing above and below ground earthing systems for renewables (solar, wind), generation, BESS, and Substations 400kV-LV for TNOs, DNOs and Private sites. There are also opportunities to be involved in AC and DC Interference Studies. The role is predominantly office/home based and site work is not part of typical duties. Although rare, some flexibility within the team to support site staff when required would be advantageous.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage projects from tendering, design to commission.
  • Ensure designs meet the relevant UK standards and regulations.
  • Review and approve Earthing Designs within Earthing Division and MU Divisions and IDNOs.
  • Support and mentor Junior Engineers, engineers from other divisions and Earthing Site Technicians.
  • Ensure that all projects are completed within budget and time.
  • Building and maintaining excellent customer relations.
  • Provide technical support to contractors and ICPs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • Expert user in CDEGS and relevant modules (MALZ, HIFREQ, TRALIN, SPLITS).
  • Expert knowledge of UK standards, regulations and DNO policies.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Desirable Experience:

  • Working Knowledge of other modelling software (e.g. EMTP-ATP, XGSLab).
  • Site work experience - Soil Resistivity Measurements, Earth Resistance Measurements and Earthing Compliance Surveys.
  • Experience in Lightning Risk Assessments and Lightning Protection Design.
