Who We Are

MDST Market is an AI-powered modest fashion search engine tackling the massive gap between what modest shoppers need and what's actually available to them. We're using machine learning to transform how people shop for modest clothing, while helping retailers tap into billions in revenue they're currently missing.

Market Opportunity

Here's the reality: despite making up 25% of the global population, modest shoppers are stuck with a frustrating, inefficient shopping experience. They spend 3-5x longer searching for clothes, deal with zero standardized modesty filters, and frequently abandon purchases out of sheer frustration. Meanwhile, retailers are missing out on a $277B market that's growing to $400B by 2025.

The timing couldn't be better for what we're building. The modest fashion segment is growing at 7-8% CAGR (double the industry average), we're seeing rising purchasing power in traditional modest markets, explosive social media visibility, and mainstream brands that recognize the opportunity but lack the expertise to actually capitalize on it.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a Backend Developer who can architect, build, and maintain scalable, API-driven infrastructure that powers the search, personalization, and data pipelines of MDST Market. You'll be responsible for integrating multiple data sources including crawled content, AI outputs, and user behavior.

Technical Experience

  • 3+ years of experience with Django or Django Rest Framework (DRF)
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL or other relational DBs
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs for frontend and mobile clients
  • Familiarity with crawlers , background tasks (Celery), or ETL pipelines
  • Comfortable working with GCP services like Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, or Firebase
  • Ability to write performant, scalable queries and optimize data models
  • Bonus: knowledge of LLM orchestration , vector DBs, or image processing pipelines

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain the core API backend powering product listings, filters, profiles, and community features
  • Design scalable data models for dynamic product metadata and user context
  • Develop endpoints for search filtering, recommendations, and analytics dashboards
  • Integrate crawled and AI-processed data into normalized product records
  • Implement profile-aware logic (e.g. no-thanks brands, saved measurements)
  • Work closely with the frontend and AI/ML teams to deliver smart, performant user experiences
  • Ensure API security, rate limiting, and performance under scale
  • Optionally contribute to crawler logic, pipeline orchestration, and search agents
