As a Payroller, you'll be responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You'll manage all aspects of payroll processing, stay compliant with HMRC regulations, and provide support on payroll-related queries. Precision, discretion, and a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation are key.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Process end-to-end payroll on a monthly basis for all employees
  2. Ensure compliance with HMRC rules, including RTI submissions and pension auto-enrolment
  3. Calculate PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
  4. Handle starters, leavers, and changes to contracts/salaries
  5. Maintain accurate payroll records and update the payroll system accordingly
  6. Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
  7. Liaise with HMRC and other third parties when required
  8. Generate P45s, P60s, payslips, and other payroll documentation
  9. Assist with year-end payroll procedures
  10. Stay up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a payroll position (in-house or bureau)
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, BrightPay, ADP)
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with maintaining accurate financial records using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage 50, etc. is desirable
  • Ability to prepare financial statements as per FRS-105 and FRS-102 standards
  • Knowledge of UK tax legislation for calculating Corporation Tax and personal income tax returns is desirable
  • Experience with filing financial statements and VAT returns in accordance with UK regulations
  • Familiarity with payroll software like Sage 50 payroll is advantageous
