As a Principal Android Engineer, you will use Java and Kotlin to build secure, enterprise-grade capabilities used by developers and end-users. Meet the job

You will design, build, and extend core capabilities for the Backbase Mobile Platform, including tooling, client-side libraries, and security features used in all Backbase-powered mobile applications. We value clean, testable, and maintainable code as we build a continuously evolving product.

You will be part of a small, multidisciplinary Agile team responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions from concept to production-ready software.

You will deliver high-quality, well-designed, and maintainable code that is elegant and easy for others to understand.

You are experienced in translating complex business questions into technical designs and implementations. Within your Agile team, you coach peers to develop these skills.

As a Principal Android Engineer, you will help the team make technical decisions, providing guidance on Android-related matters.

You will contribute to all aspects of product development, including gathering requirements, implementing functionality, writing tests, documentation, and supporting adoption.

Our team works with the following technologies:

  • Android: Java / Kotlin;
  • iOS: Objective-C / Swift / Python;
  • Bitrise.

You are familiar with clean coding, SOLID principles, design patterns, and their practical applications. You appreciate well-designed architecture, are open to proposing new designs, and enjoy discussions about innovative solutions. We encourage personal growth, whether deepening technical expertise, Agile processes, or exploring full-stack development.

How about you

  • You have 8+ years of experience working on complex Android-based products;
  • You are results-oriented and familiar with Agile methodologies;
  • You can translate high-level business requirements into technical designs and coach peers accordingly;
  • You prioritize code quality and excel in complex domains;
  • Security and non-functional requirements are within your expertise, maintaining high standards;
  • You have experience with architecture patterns like MVVM, VIPER, or MVP;
  • You believe in writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code;
  • Experience with SDLC and Continuous Delivery tools is a plus;
  • You work well within an Agile team;
    • You have developed at least three apps, with at least one available on Google Play;
  • You are skilled at reading code quickly for analysis;
  • You are an expert in Android mobile development, ready to share best practices;
  • Java and Kotlin are second nature to you;
  • You value proper documentation, automation, and modern SDLC practices;
  • You can deliver solutions efficiently as Backbase expands;
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management is advantageous.
