At Backbase we build secure, enterprise-grade digital banking software used daily by millions of people worldwide. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will join one of the core teams in our R&D department and will be responsible for driving the development of our product, following and improving our way of working, enforcing and refining our best practices, all the while contributing to create a strong engineering culture. Your mission is to help create the best banking experience for our customers.

Meet the Job

  • You will help design, build and maintain one or more capabilities for the Backbase MobilePlatform.
  • You will be part of a multidisciplinary squad that is responsible for delivering end-to-endsolutions, from initial concept to fruition in one of our production-ready applications.
  • You will be tasked with addressing complex business requirements and with translating them into technical designs and implementations.
  • You will be expected to deliver high-quality, well-engineered software that is performant, clean and is easy to maintain.
  • As a squad member, you will contribute to all aspects of product development, starting from gathering feedback & requirements and implementing actual functionality, to writing tests, documentation and providing product adoption support to colleagues, customers and partners.

How about you?

  • You have 6+ years of relevant working experience working on complexAndroid-based products, with at least 2+ years in a Senior role;
  • You are strongly proficient in Kotlin;
  • You have technical experience with architecture patterns like MVP, MVVM, MVI,Clean architecture or other scalable architectures;
  • You have technical experience with building and shipping modular Android librariesand SDKs and decorated APIs;
  • You have solid experience building complex UI with XML-based layouts and JetpackCompose;
  • You have solid understanding of multithreading and structured concurrency withKotlin Coroutines and Flow;
  • You have technical experience with unit testing, UI testing, snapshot testing anddebugging tools like Layout Inspector, Android Profiler and ADB;
  • You have technical experience with SDLC processes and CI/CD automation, strongknowledge of Gradle, familiar with Github Actions or Bitrise, and deployment tools
  • You have technical experience with Gradle plugins development.

Non-functional & Soft Skills requirements:
● You have a strong sense of ownership;
● You are a result-oriented engineer who is familiar with Agile software developmentpractices and methodologies;
● You have hands-on technical experience with non-functional features such assecurity, performance and accessibility;
● You have strong communication, coaching and leadership skills and can thrive in acomplex domain;
● You are accustomed to translating high-level business requirements into technicaldesigns and coach your peers to do the same;
● You understand the value of proper documentation, automation and other aspects ofa modern software development lifecycle.

Bonus & nice to have:
● You have banking domain experience;
● You are familiar with Figma;
● You have experience working in an international environment.
