TeReSol Pvt. Ltd., a leading fintech software company, is seeking a seasoned and strategic Project Director – Database & Administration (based in Karachi) to lead and oversee enterprise-level database systems and administration functions. This is a senior leadership role for a candidate with 15+ years of experience in database architecture, administration, and team management, preferably within banking, fintech, or large-scale IT environments, with a focus on managing complex database systems like DB2 and SQL Server for financial systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database technologies, data governance, infrastructure scalability, security best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements within the financial industry. This role involves managing a team of DBAs and database engineers, driving performance optimization, ensuring high data availability, and overseeing the databases schema designing and data warehouse management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the design, deployment, consolidation, and management of enterprise databases (DB2, Microsoft SQL Server), ensuring data integrity and consistency during the transition.
2. Oversee database administration teams, ensuring best practices in performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security, with a focus on minimizing disruption during the database migration using ETL tools and consolidation.
3. Develop and implement data management strategies aligned with business needs and compliance standards, with a specific emphasis on data governance and security for sensitive information.
4. Ensure 24/7 availability, disaster recovery planning, and incident response readiness for all database systems, including the core databases and the data warehouse, with robust failover and redundancy mechanisms.
5. Collaborate with IT leadership, application development, and DevOps teams for integrated data workflows.
6. Evaluate and implement modern database tools and technologies to improve system efficiency, performance, and scalability.
7. Drive governance policies for data security, privacy, access control, and retention, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and audit requirements specific to the financial industry.
8. Lead database scalability planning for high-volume, high-growth systems in a fintech environment, ensuring the database infrastructure can support the increasing demands of the modernized financial system.
9. Guide and mentor database teams; manage capacity planning, training, and performance reviews, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the database administration team.

Requirements:

• Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years in database management and administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, and significant experience in managing DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server in a large-scale enterprise environment, preferably within financial systems.

Proven experience with:

• Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud-based DB platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.).
• Deep expertise in DB2 database administration, including database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security implementation for financial data.
• Solid understanding of data replication, failover clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery, with experience in implementing these strategies for critical financial systems.
• Experience in regulated industries (e.g., fintech, banking) with exposure to audit and compliance requirements, data security standards, and regulatory reporting for financial systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage database teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders within a fintech environment.
