DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer

Reports to: VP of Engineering

Required Experience: 5+ years

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable infrastructure on AWS while ensuring security best practices and cost optimization. This includes managing VPCs, load balancers, and implementing auto-scaling strategies.
• Lead container orchestration efforts using Docker and Docker Swarm, including creating optimized Dockerfiles, managing container networking, and implementing service discovery solutions for microservices architecture.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines primarily using GitHub Actions, focusing on automated testing, deployment, and rollback strategies for TypeScript-based applications.
• Monitor and optimize system performance using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana, while implementing logging solutions and establishing alerting thresholds.

Technical Requirements:

• Strong experience with AWS services, particularly EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and IAM, with demonstrated ability to architect cloud-native solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of Docker and Docker Swarm, including experience with multi-container applications, volume management, and container networking.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to manage AWS resources and maintain configuration consistency.
• Experience with Node.js ecosystem and TypeScript applications, including understanding of build processes and optimization for React and NestJS applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration at scale
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
• Experience with database administration and optimization
• Familiarity with WebSocket deployments and real-time application infrastructure

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in incident response and troubleshooting production issues
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with development teams and stakeholders
• Proactive approach to system improvements and technical debt management
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation
