Key responsibilities

  • Calculation/ Submission of monthly sales tax returns under Federal and Provincial laws.
  • Calculation/ Submission of quarterly advance tax under income tax laws.
  • Calculation and filing of annual income tax return.
  • Calculation and filing of relevant Stamp Duty on Purchase Orders.
  • Liaison with tax consultants for tax refunds' verification and securing available exemption from withholding taxes.
  • Liaison within Finance and other departments within the Company to compile details related to tax notices, tax audits, tax forecasts and other related compliances.
  • Advising different department/ functions of the Company for tax implications on different transactions/ payments/ foreign remittances.
  • Compiling details with respect to tax audits and notices for onwards submission.
  • Coordination with tax consultants and lawyer (where necessary) with regards to ongoing tax litigations and proceedings.
  • Monthly calculation of income tax liability (current/ deferred), Workers' Welfare Fund, Workers' Profit Participation Fund & Central Research Fund.
  • Monthly monitoring of tax liability and accruals.
  • Reconciliations of 'balance' appearing in relevant GL account codes (for example tax liability, deferred tax etc) with the proper details, schedules and justifications.
  • Coordination with internal/ external auditors of the Company for taxation related queries, disclosures, calculations and schedules.
  • Supporting Tax Lead in advising best course of action, from tax perspective, to the Management for different significant transactions, product launches, important changes in relevant tax laws or any significant development under statute.
  • Supporting Management and Tax Lead in drafting proposals for amendments in tax laws after analyzing existing laws, impact on the Organization as well as appropriate change in the law.
  • Complete tracking and monitoring and tax litigation, notices and proceedings.

Qualifications and skills

  • Newly Qualified CA or CA Finalist/ ACCA/ MBA/ ICMA/CIMA from reputable institute with relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience of working in Tax Function preferably in large Manufacturing/ FMCG Company (basic end user knowledge of SAP will be preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of Federal Income & Sales Tax Laws, Provincial Sales Tax laws and related updates in the form of SROs, circulars, clarifications or guidance issued by different professional bodies.
  • Deferred tax knowledge.
  • Interpretational Skills of different tax laws.
  • Ability to manage tax audits and notices.

Preferred

  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficient in MS Office (Specially Excel and PowerPoint)
