Job Description

The electrical technician is responsible for operation, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing substation and other electrical systems to company standards.

1) Apply skills and knowledge to ensure target production throughput rate or objectives are safely executed in line with Section Plan, KPIs, Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions Values, and IMS system.

2) Demonstrate work behaviors consistent with company values and work within company policies, standards, procedures, and legislative requirements.

  1. Adhere to health, safety, security, and environmental policies, procedures, instructions, and controls for the safety of self and others.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in operation and maintenance of LV electrical systems and substation LV equipment.
  3. Ensure compliance with quality management procedures and controls to deliver high-quality services and products.

3) Assist Supervisor and Engineer in preparation of Root Cause Analysis Reports.

4) Identify defective components and parts and communicate this to Supervisor and Engineer.

5) Assist Supervisor and Engineer in commissioning of new equipment or re-commissioning of repaired equipment.

6) Read technical drawings, work orders, and maintenance schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.

7) Ensure that jobs are carried out as per schedule and steps stipulated in the maintenance job cards.

  2. Perform work safely and utilize safety equipment properly.
  3. Understand and follow all yard safety rules and regulations.
  4. Maintain quality of work set.
  5. Maintain tools and equipment.
  6. Keep work area clean and organized.
  7. Follow instructions from supervisors and carry out tasks safely and efficiently.
  8. Follow all safety procedures and report lapses.
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.
  10. Prioritize wellbeing and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to all health & safety protocols, participating in wellbeing & wellness programs, and reporting concerns promptly.
Qualifications

Degree / Diploma in Electrical or Equivalent Technical Certificate in Electrical trade.

Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in operation, testing, and maintenance of substation equipment and other electrical systems.

Knowledge of fault finding techniques.

Knowledge of LV switchgear, generators, capacitor banks, and battery chargers. Ability to read electrical schematics.

Knowledge of operation, testing, and maintenance of powerhouses, switchgear, generators, capacitor banks, MCCB, and ACB. Familiarity with PTW system.
