Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure/Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain the physical and virtual infrastructure supporting our data analytics platform. This role is critical to ensuring that our on-premises system — from our server clusters and network configurations to storage and data pipelines — runs optimally and securely. You will work closely with both the DevOps and Operations teams to maintain high availability, efficient batch processing, and robust data security for our large-scale telemetry ingestion and processing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design & Deployment: Plan, architect, and deploy on-premises servers and network solutions tailored to handle high-volume batch data processing.
• System Administration: Manage Linux-based server environments, ensuring system performance, regular maintenance, and timely updates.
• Network & Storage Management: Configure and monitor network components, storage arrays, and backup systems to support continuous data ingestion and safeguard critical data.
• Support & Troubleshooting: Provide proactive system monitoring and troubleshooting for hardware issues, OS-level errors, and network bottlenecks.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to streamline routine maintenance tasks, backups, and system health checks.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure that all infrastructure components adhere to security best practices, including data encryption, access control, patch management, and firewall configurations.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Work with the DevOps, TV Headend, and Development teams to document system configurations, establish SOPs, and support CI/CD processes as needed.
• Capacity Planning: Monitor resource utilization and plan for system scaling to accommodate an increasing volume of data, ensuring consistent performance.
• Power Management: Assess, plan, and manage the power requirements of the IT infrastructure, including load calculations, UPS sizing, and backup power continuity for critical systems.
• UPS and Power Systems: Collaborate with facility teams to ensure proper deployment, configuration, and monitoring of UPS systems and surge protection, minimizing the risk of data loss or hardware damage due to power fluctuations.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or IT operations in on-premises environments.
• Strong expertise in managing Linux-based server environments with proven troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Hands-on experience with network configuration, storage management, and backup solutions in a data-intensive setting.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus) and the ability to integrate these tools into existing workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and supporting tools for automation and deployment will be useful.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage system maintenance schedules within business hours (9am–6pm).

Preferred

• Experience in a data-heavy environment such as media, telemetry, or audience measurement systems.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus (even though our system is primarily on-premises, this knowledge is beneficial).
• Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data security and compliance in broadcast or similar domains.
