The Chef de Cuisine holds an Executive-level position in the kitchen hierarchy, overseeing culinary operations with a focus on innovative Asian and Western cuisines.

We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Chef de Cuisine to join our dynamic kitchen team at EC Coffee Bar, a vibrant café that serves a diverse mix of dishes ranging from local favorites like laksa prawn noodles to Western classics such as eggs benedict, pasta, and steak. As a Chef de Cuisine, you will be responsible for crafting a menu that blends the best of different cuisines while ensuring consistency, creativity, and exceptional food quality.

You will play a key role in the kitchen's daily operations, from creative culinary to dish presentation, working closely with the team to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our customers.

Shift 1 - 8.30am to 3.30pm (AM)

Shift 2 - 3.30pm to 10.30pm (PM)

Shift 3 - 12pm to 7pm (PEAK)

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develops and updates the menu, creating a balance of dishes that are both appealing to customers and operationally feasible.
  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and consistency.
  • Monitor the quality of ingredients, portion sizes, and final dishes to meet EC Coffee Bar's standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
  • Manage kitchen stock, order ingredients, and ensure proper storage and handling to minimize waste and maximize cost efficiency.
  • Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure a smooth, productive kitchen environment. Promote teamwork, creativity, and a positive attitude.
Technical Skills and Competencies:
  • Ensure that the kitchen complies with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations. Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • 5 years of proven professional kitchen experience, >2 years leadership role (Head Chef, or similar), ideally in a café and bistro environment.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in various cooking techniques, with the ability to manage both simple and complex dishes.
  • Excellent team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire kitchen staff to work efficiently and with high standards.
  • Strong creativity in menu planning and the ability to experiment with ingredients and flavors to create unique, high-quality dishes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
