The faculty member will assist and facilitate the Head of Department to manage and supervise the clinical and academic activities of the department and patient care. They will assign and delegate duties to the Registrar and other staff for the smooth functioning of the department regarding patient care, teaching and training of students. They will manage, supervise and train PGs/MOs/HOs and other paramedical staff. They will also coordinate and collaborate with hospital administration to ensure quality education to students and health services to patients.
- To arrange and deliver lectures/seminars/clinical and practical skills small group discussions, evaluation and assessment according to the curriculum for MBBS/BDS students.
- To facilitate postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) for clinical presentation, small group discussion, case-based & problem-based teaching, journal club, teaching psychomotor skills and preparation for inter-module examinations and dissertations.
- To assist Head of Department/Professor in organizing CPC/clinical meetings and conferences in collaboration with other professional organizations.
- To coordinate and facilitate faculty members and postgraduate trainees in research and development through continuous education and learning, and to support their publication requirements as part of career development research activities of the department.
- To convey knowledge for basic management of common problems in patient care (e.g., emergency treatment, management of emergencies) to develop clinical and practical skills of students.
- To assist and facilitate Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/BDS.
- To ensure regular OPD sessions for continuing medical care and management, and to supervise new patients referred for specialist advice.
- To ensure regular clinical rounds of the ward to manage and supervise progress and care of in-patients.
- To conduct medical procedures in the ward under supervision of senior consultants and to develop monitoring mechanisms to ensure that recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.
- To provide specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments.
- To assess patients in the emergency department if required for consultancy.
- To ensure on-call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover to critical patients around the clock.
- To assist Head of Department/Professor in departmental confidential inquiries of mortalities.
- To manage, supervise and train PGs/MOs/HOs and other paramedical staff to ensure delivery of quality health services to patients and enhanced patient management skills of staff.
- To prepare and monitor duty rosters for the department including paramedical staff and to manage staff placement issues.
- To maintain close liaison with hospital administration to ensure proper ward management, including patient clinical records and routine matters related to demand, supply and complaints.
