Overview

Job Opportunity: Assistant Manager – Procurement (Mechanical)

Location: Karachi
Gender: Open to all (female candidates encouraged to apply)
Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an HEC recognized institute/university
Experience: 1–4 years
Preferred Age Range: 26–29 years

Responsibilities
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for mechanical components including machining, fabrication, castings, pumps, valves, and catalogue items.
  • Estimate costs and quantities based on engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Conduct vendor assessments, capability evaluations, testing, and market visits to ensure supplier reliability.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle: RFQs, bid evaluation, negotiation, and purchase order issuance.
  • Ensure on-time deliveries and coordinate supplier payment cycles.
  • Collaborate with plant teams for material reconciliation, supply chain challenges, and procurement documentation.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, contracts, and master data in MIS systems.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to support effective sourcing and procurement decisions.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating ownership and accountability.
  • Leverage local market knowledge to identify cost-effective and reliable sourcing opportunities.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication, machining processes, and supplier sourcing.
  • Hands-on experience in procurement processes: RFQs, bid evaluation, price negotiation, and PO management.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications for accurate procurement planning.
  • Expertise in vendor assessment, qualification, and supplier development.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
