We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring database integrity, security, performance, and availability while supporting business applications and users. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers (e.g., SQL Server (On-prem/ Cloud), PostgreSQL & CosmosDB in cloud).
  • Monitor database performance, implement optimizations, and resolve performance issues.
  • Perform regular maintenance, including backups, indexing, and archiving.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery strategies are in place.

Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce database security policies to protect sensitive data.
  • Manage user access control and permissions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).

Optimization & Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures for efficiency.
  • Work with development teams to enhance database performance and scalability.

Backup & Recovery:

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
  • Test disaster recovery plans and ensure database availability.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business teams to support application needs.
  • Assist in database design and architecture planning for new applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: [X] years of experience as a DBA, managing relational databases.
  • Proficiency in database technologies (e.g., SQL Server (On-prem/ Cloud), PostgreSQL and CosmosDB in cloud).
  • Strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience with backup/recovery solutions and high availability configurations.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA Certification, or AWS Certified Database – Specialty are a plus.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployment.
