About the role:

You will be responsible for promoting the use of data analytics within the organization and ensuring the development and deployment of data science models to support business objectives. You will work closely with the Business Units to help them achieve their KPIs efficiently and address their problems through the creative application of ML methodologies.

Key Performance Indicators
  • Use of agile ML development to pivot as required
  • End-to-end ownership of data science projects
  • Establish the value of data science across the organization by making it useful and accessible
  • Stakeholder feedback/review on deliverables shared
  • Proactivity shown at finding alternative solutions to problem-solving
  • Collaboration with external vendors and internal stakeholders to achieve completion of tasks
Your Impactful Goals will include:
  • Using data science to solve key business problems and transform conventional practices into automated, data-driven models
  • Solving business problems with keen understanding of data wrangling, analysis, and interpretation of complicated, disparate datasets
  • Identifying valuable data sources and automating collection processes
  • Undertaking preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
  • Analyzing large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Combining models through ensemble modeling
  • Building predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
  • Ensuring the development and delivery of insights and models to answer business questions
  • Presenting information using data visualization techniques
  • Proposing solutions and strategies to business challenges
  • Collaborating with engineering and product development teams
  • Looking for new areas for analytics to enhance analytics scope
  • Performing in-depth study of business processes for thorough improvement
Typical Days of work:
  • Managing a team of data scientists and analysts to understand business pain points and design problems to be addressed with ML as required.
  • Working on large datasets in Python for pre-processing, modeling, and visualization.
  • Understanding data-based decision making through strong interest in analytical thinking.
  • Close coordination with other functional units e.g. Business Intelligence, Segments, Technology, S&D, and other commercial stakeholders.
  • Building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders within the organization and developing/enhancing the culture of utilizing Business Insights across the organization.
  • Establishing the value of data science across the organization by making it useful and accessible.
What we are looking for?
Education: BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field is preferred.
Work experience:
  • 4-5 years of proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst preferred.
  • Experience in data mining.
  • Proven track record of similar roles.
  • BI, DWH working knowledge of a telecom operator will be an advantage.
Potential Career Path
Having gained experience in this position enables many diverse openings for the individual including vertical growth. Possible avenues in other functional roles include Segments & Products, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Corporate Strategy functions, Digital Services, and Pricing.

Functional Skills / Knowledge Areas:
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Random Forests, XG-Boost, etc.
  • Understanding of statistical methods for forecasting.
  • Clarity on relevant performance metrics based on the problem being modeled.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, Plotly, etc.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig.
  • Understanding of machine learning, statistical modeling, and operations research.
  • Knowledge of R, SQL, and Python; familiarity with OOP, Java, or C++ is an asset.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop).
  • Analytical mind, business acumen & strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra).
  • Ability to influence by providing data-backed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and soft skills to manage a team and align stakeholders.
  • Imagination and creativity, desire to present data as a story.
