Biodiversity Strategy Advisor

We are seeking a highly experienced Biodiversity Strategy Advisor to support the development and implementation of ambitious National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs).
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. They will be responsible for assessing NBSAP landscapes, mobilizing support, and coordinating action.
Key Responsibilities:
- NBSAP Landscape Assessment: Assess country-specific biodiversity priorities, capacity needs, and implementation challenges.
- Mobilize Support: Mobilize support for NBSAP implementation through a Whole of Government and Society approach.
- Coordination of Action: Foster alignment among initiatives, strengthen national structures for NBSAP implementation, and share global best practices.
- Monitoring and Progress Controls: Maintain regular communication with host country National Focal Points and prepare periodic reports.
Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in biodiversity conservation, project management, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, or related areas.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with NBSAPs, CBD, and other biodiversity frameworks.
- Experience working with regional or international organizations.
- Proven track record with government, civil society, and international partners.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second UN official language is desirable.
