This is a key role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the effective protection of transmission pipelines through proactive corrosion control measures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting regular inspections at Corrosion Control Transmission stations, test points, and pipeline construction projects to identify areas requiring maintenance or rectification.

Main Objectives:

  • To ensure the optimal functioning of Corrosion Control Transmission stations and undertake maintenance activities as required.
  • To develop and implement an effective Enterprise Asset Management program to minimize downtime and repair costs.
  • To optimize the efficiency of Corrosion Control operations to prevent pipeline corrosion.
  • To determine corrosion-related problems in the field through organizing surveys and identifying areas requiring maintenance or rectification.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections at Corrosion Control Transmission stations, test points, and pipeline construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Develop and implement an Enterprise Asset Management program.
  • Optimize the efficiency of Corrosion Control operations.
  • Organize surveys to determine corrosion-related problems in the field.
  • Coordinate activities with other service providers and/or vendors, as necessary.
  • Implement health assessments of the existing coating system.
  • Develop and arrange coating rehabilitation plans.
  • Develop corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems.
  • Arrange Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for newly laid transmission pipelines.
  • Perform timely renewal of Ground Beds activities.
  • Monitor various field tests and plan for recoating of pipelines.
  • Diagnose and rectify system difficulties during survey operations.
  • Conduct interference testing and coordinate interactions with vendors and customers.
  • Prepare reports on survey and design.
  • Prepare charts and tables for management.
  • Assist in designing and planning regarding CC for new and existing pipelines.
  • Arrange installation of sacrificial anode systems for pipeline protection against corrosion.
  • Conduct post-installation surveys.
  • Assist in implementing policies, procedures, and rules regarding corrosion control of assets.
  • Perform pipeline rectification activities in response to findings of field surveys.
  • Prepare survey reports and findings on coating deterioration.
  • Revalidate the Pipeline Integrity Assessment and identify vulnerable sections.
  • Develop reports regarding corrosion monitoring received from assigned areas.
  • Arrange procurement of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Assist in under-construction pipeline projects and monitor and check status of coating.
  • Ensure all corrosion control activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Provide training and development for employees involved in corrosion control.
  • Identify and assess risks under their management/ownership.
  • Develop and implement risk response strategies for risks under their management.
  • Monitor risks and response strategies under their management.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of information provided for risk reporting.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by senior management.
