Clinical Microbiologist

Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor will facilitate the Head of Department to manage and supervise clinical and academic activities of the department and patient care. They will assign and delegate duties to Senior Registrars and Registrar staff for smooth functioning of the department regarding patient care, teaching, and training of students.

• Arrange and deliver lectures, seminars, clinical, and practical skills, small group discussions, evaluation, and assessment according to curriculum for MBBS/BDS students.
• Facilitate Postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) with clinical presentations, small group discussions, case-based and problem-based teaching, journal clubs, teaching psychomotor skills, and preparation for inter-module examinations and dissertations.
• Assist Head of Department/Professor in organizing CPC/clinical meetings and conferences in collaboration with other professional organizations.
• Coordinate and facilitate faculty members and Postgraduate trainees in research and development through continuous education and learning environments, assisting with publication requirements as part of career development research activities of the department.
• Convey knowledge for basic management of common patient care problems, including emergency treatment and management of emergencies to develop clinical and practical skills of students.
• Assist and facilitate Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/BDS.
• Ensure regular OPD sessions for continuing medical care and manage/supervise new patients referred for specialist advice.
• Ensure regular clinical rounds of the ward to manage/supervise progress and care of indoor patients.
• Conduct medical procedures in the ward under supervision of senior consultants and develop proper monitoring mechanism to ensure all recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.
• Provide specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments.
• Assess patients in emergency department if required for consultancy.
• Ensure on-call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover for critical patients round the clock.
• Assist Head of Department/Professor in departmental confidential inquiries of mortalities.
• Manage, supervise, and train PGs, MOs, HOs, and other paramedical staff to ensure delivery of quality health services to patients and enhance management skills of staff.
• Prepare and monitor duty rota of the department, including paramedical staff, and manage and resolve staff management and placement issues.
• Maintain close liaison with hospital administration to ensure proper ward management, including patient clinical records and routine matters related to demand and supply and complaints.
• Must follow Islamic and medical ethics as per IIMCT mission statement.

Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a strong educational background in Microbiology or Pathology, along with relevant clinical experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
