About the Role:
The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission, and under the direct supervision of the COA Coordinator/Facilitator, providing interpretation services during interviews, pre-departure orientation sessions, and other meetings conducted in-person, by telephone, and/or by video conference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication Services: Interpret accurately between Urdu, Dari, and/or Pashto languages, ensuring seamless communication.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality during interpretation sessions, adhering to designated program procedures regarding the destruction or maintenance of written notes.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate an understanding of cultural practices and language differences that may exist between parties to the conversation.
- Professional Conduct: Remain objective, unbiased, impartial, and neutral when providing interpretation services, treating all parties with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
- Training and Evaluation: Participate in relevant training sessions and contribute to terminology lists as requested, being available to be evaluated on the quality of interpretation by a third party.
Requirements:
- Education: University degree in related fields with two years of relevant professional experience, or Secondary school degree with four years of relevant experience.
- Experience and Skills: Experience in Interpretation and/or translation activities in Dari and Pashto, excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills, proven ability to work as part of a team in an international and multicultural environment.
- Languages: Fluency in Urdu, Dari, and Pashto (Afghan dialect) (oral and written).
