Software Engineering Leadership Role

A software engineering leader at a top tech firm leads the development of server applications across various software platforms, crafting RESTful APIs for client applications to consume. This role ensures server application functionality, security, and performance meet design requirements and are bug-free.

The software engineer also takes on a leadership role, guiding teams through continuous training and guidance.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, test, debug, document, and maintain back-end services, models, processes, and databases supporting the application.
  2. Participate in development team activities to ensure high levels of quality and productivity.
  3. Develop expertise in cloud architectures, including security, availability, microservices, consumption-based billing, and designs for scalability.
  4. Stay current with new technologies and development techniques to enhance application quality and construction efficiency.
  5. Adopt agile principles and support iterative processes to maximize valuable software delivery.
  6. Provide technical expertise and guidance for complex assignments and/or projects, collaborating with staff, contractors, and vendors to meet MIS needs.
  7. Conduct complex design and/or analyses to address business needs through technology.
  8. Lead small to medium-sized projects and present recommendations to management.
  9. Offer guidance in selecting alternatives and serve as a resource for others regarding highly technical areas.
Necessary Skills:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent.
  2. At least 8+ years of professional experience in Java/Spring development, specifically commercial Spring MVC/Hibernate and AJAX web applications.
  3. Experience in system integration, particularly designing, building, and consuming REST services.
  4. Experience with PostgreSQL as a DB engine, deployed on AWS, and relational DB skills for PostgreSQL & Terraform.
  5. Experience with React Js is a plus.
  6. Ability to work closely with business stakeholders, user experience designers, and quality assurance.
  7. Comfortable with evolving requirements and specifications.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  9. Belief in the value of test automation.
