Medical Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Officer to join our team. As a Medical Officer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with consultants and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless 24-hour hospital service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Professional Demeanor: Maintain a professional demeanor at all times when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  2. Communication: Clearly communicate orders received from consultants and their teams while providing patient care, operating within your level of expertise and experience.
  3. Patient Coverage: Provide medical coverage during duty hours, collaborating with other Medical Officers to ensure continuous coverage.
  4. Documentation: Document patient progress and events in the HMIS system following ward rounds, examinations, and procedures.
  5. Patient Guidance: Pursue guidance from Consultants and their teams regarding patient health matters.
  6. Medical Procedures: Perform specific medical procedures as advised by the Consultant, staying within your scope of practice and experience.
  7. Nursing Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with nursing staff to monitor patient progress, conducting examinations upon request.
  8. Discharge Planning: Discuss discharge medications with patients and prepare comprehensive discharge summaries.
  9. Confidentiality: Ensure confidentiality of all patient medical information and refrain from disclosing it under any circumstances.
  10. Emergency Response: Offer urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in case of accidents or sudden illnesses, in conjunction with the medical team.
  11. Hospital Premises: Remain on hospital premises during duty hours; if unable to attend, ensure a replacement is secured to maintain continuous coverage.
  12. Policies and Procedures: Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on Health and Safety at Work protocols.
  13. Interpersonal Relationships: Foster effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and their families.
