Web Development Role

We are seeking skilled web developers to create innovative, reusable web-based tools for progressive online activism and community building.

Our team works closely with project managers, strategists, and designers to develop specifications and make recommendations on the use of new and emerging technologies. This role involves programming, graphic design, and database administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with Project Managers and Development Team members to create detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines.
  2. Produce project estimates during sales processes, including expertise required, total number of people required, and total development hours needed.
  3. Attend client meetings during sales and development processes.
  4. Work with clients and Project Managers to build and refine graphic designs for websites, requiring strong skills in Photoshop or equivalent applications.
  5. Convert raw images and layouts from designers into CSS/XHTML themes.
  6. Determine suitable architecture and technical solutions, making relevant recommendations to clients.
  7. Communicate project progress and delays to Project Managers with efficiency and accuracy.
  8. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high-value services to clients.
  9. Alert colleagues to emerging technologies and opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.
  10. Develop innovative, reusable web-based tools for activism and community building.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  2. 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  3. 2 years minimum web programming experience, including .NET, PHP, ASP, or JSP.
  4. 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle, with a good working knowledge of SQL.
  5. Development experience using extensible web authoring tools.
  6. Experience developing and implementing open-source software projects.
  7. Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  8. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
